The role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Industrial Placement Student to join our engineering team at Ditton, Cheshire for 12 months from August/September 2024. This placement is an excellent opportunity to experience life on a manufacturing site and gain exposure to a wide variety of typical process plant equipment used in batch-processing as well provide a platform in which to develop technical skills.
The main purpose of this role is to help implement improvements on site to address safety, environmental and operational issues. Under the guidance of a Process Engineer, the student will get the opportunity to:
- Provide support and help Process Engineers working on small to medium sized capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, from initial scoping through to installation and commissioning.
- Provide operational support to the manufacturing plants; helping to troubleshoot issues and assure continued production, as well as installing plant modifications to improve operational and safety systems.
- Understand how Process Safety is applied on site by participating in Process Risk Reviews (PRR), Hazard Studies, Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Pressure Relief studies - and implementing actions arising from these.
This role will be an excellent opportunity to work alongside a range of departments and disciplines – EC&I engineering, mechanical engineering, maintenance technicians, process operators, external contractors, and process development scientists, among others. This will be ideal for understanding the role a multi-skilled Process Engineer plays in the successful operation of a manufacturing site.
