We are looking for an enthusiastic Aftertreatment Integration Development student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Components Business Segment in Darlington. This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday 37.5hrs per week. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!
What you'll do
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Procure and manage prototype and controls lab inventory and manage shipment of parts between different test facilities
- Work with test operations function to produce test instructions, scripts and logging files for engine dynamometer testing and pilot vehicle testing
- Troubleshoot test cell issues including hardware, test sequence and scripting, instructions and test procedures and provide both short- and long-term solutions
- Analyse test cell, pilot vehicle and field test data to evaluate hardware and software performance for a variety of different test types and scenarios
- Support cross functional design reviews for hardware, software, and diagnostic tuning by providing review packs, including requirements definition, tuning rationale, and test results, and participating in review meetings
- Simulate diagnostic and control system performance using Simulink, MATLAB, and HIL test benches to evaluate tuning decisions and calibration robustness, as well as evaluating sensor and actuator performance
What you'll need
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Studying BEng or MEng in Mechanical, Automotive, Chemical, STEM subjects, or equivalent Engineering discipline
- Good knowledge of MATLAB and Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
- Methodical and data-based approach to problem solving & strong team working skills
- Knowledge of diesel engine architecture would be an advantage but not essential as training will be provided
