    About the role

    We are looking for an enthusiastic Applied Mechanics Engineer to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Power Systems Business Segment in Daventry. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

    In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

    • Responsible for assessing the durability of our components, systems and products to ensure they are fit for use by the end customer.
    • Measure what happens in engine test cells and in the field: whether up a mountain, inside a shipping container, or at a power station, we are responsible for proving how much engine blocks bend, crankshafts twist, and gensets shake.

     

    • Using servo hydraulic test frames, electromagnetic shakers, motor driven rigs and advanced telemetry the UK Applied Mechanics department define the durability of components and systems used on Cummins power systems.
    • access to our state-of-the-art test facilities and opportunity to design your own tests with guidance from our team of experienced engineers. With the support of subject matter experts choosing from strain gauges, accelerometers, laser vibrometers and motion amplification cameras to best demonstrate the physics under test.
    • Working as part of a global function you will communicate your test conclusions to colleagues around the world.
    • Enhance your skills in engineering mechanics, digital signal processing, CAD, practical instrumentation, and rig building.

    What you'll need

    To be successful in this role you will need the following:

    • We are looking for a wide range of candidates studying towards a STEM related degree
    • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
    • Strong interest in the subject area with good level of computer literacy
    • High level of data analysis skills are required.
