    Description

    We are looking for an enthusiastic Design Engineering Placement Student to join our team specializing in Battery Pack Hardware design for our New Power Business Unit in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.

    During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential! In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

    • Design components using 3D & 2D CAD systems to meet technical requirements in context with a focus on low-cost, design for manufacture & assembly
    • Co-ordinate and run basic FEA & 1D modelling/analysis on those designs (vibration, crash, thermal loading, mechanical shock, EMC – Electromagnetic capability)
    • Document design essentials across a wide range of commodities/components
    • Develop an understanding of fundamental battery design, product development cycle & designing in context
    • Proactively identifying potential failure modes via engineering toolsets (such as DFMEA’s, DVP&R’s, 8D & Fault-tree analysis) and looking at how these can be mitigated through optimal design
    • Co-ordinate and specify component testing, system level validation and partake in prototype builds

    To be successful in this role you will need the following

    • Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive or Design Engineering degree/student
    • Self-motivation, initiative, and aptitude for time management/prioritization
    • Strong people skills and the ability to work on your own and in a cross functional team.
    • CAD / CAE experience
