    We are looking for a Junior Character Concept Artist to join our very talented Art Department. As Junior Character Concept Artist you will create concept artwork in a realistic style that helps define the look of characters for our game.

    This role is being offered on an in-studio basis only, successful candidates will be required to work from our studio in Nottingham city centre. 

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

    • Working alongside your mentor assist in the creation of in-game assets.
    • Create target quality character concept art in collaboration with the Art Director and Lead Concept Artist.
    • Present detailed work that will allow the art team to produce high quality, photorealistic in-game characters.
    • Perform research and analysis, generate mood boards and sketches that present options and solutions within the remit provided.
    • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the product goals and design direction.
    • Ensure that all output adheres to and is complementary to the core game pillars and brand values.

    Requirements / Nice to haves

    A portfolio is required which demonstrates examples of strong photo bashing skills and high quality, realistic, styled examples of production focused illustrations that convey the key aspects of form, function, and material which allow an artist to translate the illustration into an actual game asset.

    • No formal training is required but an eye for quality is a must. Experience in a related field, such as film or animation production is also acceptable.
    • Proven ability to generate a visual solution to a complex brief, whilst adhering closely to art pillars.
    • solid knowledge of fundamental skills including anatomy, perspective, lighting, colour theory, use of detail and visual story telling.
    • Strong observation and research skills.
    • Willingness to continue to learn and improve your own skills.
    • Strong interest in playing video games.
    • Adaptive and versatile: a can-do attitude and the ability to receive feedback constructively.
    • an eye for good presentation of designed characters with supporting reference.
    • A keen interest in photography, cinema and modern pop culture.
    • Previous experience with Zbrush, Blender, Marvellous Designer or Unreal Engine 4 and the ability to work with block-out game Ability to generate ideas and participate collaboratively with the other concept artists.
