The role

We’re looking for a smart, media-hungry Assistant Account Executive, with a passion for technology, to work on some of the world’s largest and well-known technology brands.

As an Assistant Account Executive in the team you will contribute to daily client account work, managing small projects and contributing to larger projects as directed by project leaders. You may also have the opportunity to supervise the work of more junior team members. The role will see you supporting the client in the execution of communications marketing activities including stakeholder outreach/management, media relations, content development, research, social media campaigns, event coordination, etc. Our ideal candidate will be able to apply knowledge to solve problems independently and their agility will set them up for success in a fast-paced environment where they will need to adapt to new assignments and deadlines continually.

Key responsibilities

  • Client centricity: Provide client service support by preparing client status and activity reports, scheduling/coordinating client/team meetings and ensuring all supportive materials are prepared, including updating workback/action trackers. Provide support to team in meeting agreed client expectations and needs, troubleshooting problems, attending client meetings and conference calls and reporting weekly/monthly activities.
  • Brilliant basics: Develop strong writing, editing and proofreading skills. Develop accurate media monitoring reports and first draft client materials, as appropriate. Identify and work with target media, demonstrating a network of traditional and online media/influencer contacts, and help with media sell-ins.
  • Flawless execution: Manage action trackers for your teams, coordinate meeting logistics, liaise with internal and external stakeholders, prepare yourself and team to attend client meetings/calls, research and develop high-quality written documents. Ensure you get a good brief from your team prior to starting work so that you become a ‘safe pair of hands’ for your team.
  • Integrated marketing fundamentals: Develop an understanding of the different types of activities that can be classified as communications marketing, including advertising, direct marketing, branding, online presence, printed materials, PR, sponsorships, congress activities, etc. Understand which journalists should be contacted from each publication and build relationships with key journalists.
  • Insights: Use the information you have learnt in team meetings and training to complete your tasks with intelligence and accuracy, support the planning team in conducting research to identify appropriate insights.
  • Collective creativity: Develop your network within the Edelman office to understand what other teams do and how this work might benefit your client(s). Develop strong relationships with team members, including those not based in the London office, positioning yourself as a helpful colleague who will act on behalf of the team to deliver quality work, offering assistance during busy times.
  • Digital fluency: Develop a basic understanding of the most commonly used digital and social channels available to our clients and be able to write first drafts of content appropriate to each channel. Develop a working knowledge of paid digital media.
  • Consultative skills: Demonstrate understanding of key client information, including business strategy, project objectives and industry landscape and issues. Listen with intelligence and ask questions as needed. Develop the skills required to ensure that you have a detailed brief for any work that your team or a client asks you to complete.

Brand and business building

  • Understand how the business is run, and your role within it.
  • Participate in the new business process, including research, audits, preparation of proposals and support for new business pitches. Participate in brainstorms.
  • Identify and engage in networking opportunities, making the most of your university or professional networks, becoming an ambassador for Edelman.
  • Follow news relevant to target industries and flag potential opportunities for account growth.

Key experience

  •  
  • Previous experience working in PR or marketing communications, or relevant academic degree or volunteer experience.
  • Experience working as part of a team and desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience developing written communications materials.
  • Experience in research and reporting using online, media and social databases and tools.
