The D. E. Shaw group seeks a talented analyst to work closely with a team of attorneys and compliance professionals in London to help ensure that the firm’s business activities in the U.K. and Europe are conducted in strict accordance with regulatory requirements. This position affords the opportunity for broad exposure to the firm’s trading groups, as well as the chance to handle real-time issues related to the firm’s expanding suite of global investment products in a fast-paced, constantly evolving regulatory environment. You’ll join a small, inclusive team that values thoughtfulness and collaboration.

What you’ll do day-to-day

You’ll be immersed in the full range of regulatory and compliance issues that affect an investment firm regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Responsibilities will include implementing and maintaining compliance policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to compliance policies, and collaborating with compliance staff, including in the firm’s offices in the United States and India, to support trading and investment activities conducted from London. Responsibilities will also include the review and negotiation of certain transaction documents such as non-disclosure agreements relating to investment opportunities evaluated by investment professionals in London. You’ll also work on long-term projects to maintain the firm’s high standards of compliance with new and existing regulations.

Who we’re looking for

  • Candidates should have at least a bachelor’s degree and an impressive record of academic achievement. Experience working in compliance for an asset management firm, investment bank, and/or other financial services firm is a plus, but is not required.
  • Organizational and project management acumen are crucial, as are exceptional attention to detail, a robust work ethic, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and take initiative.
  • Excellent analytical abilities, drafting and verbal communication skills, and numeracy are essential.
