Join us as the Decathlon x Van Rysel UK Community & Publicity Manager in a fixed-term contract for 10 months, where you'll become a vital player in one of our game-changing projects. With the imminent arrival of the Van Rysel Shop in London, this is an unparalleled opportunity to be at the forefront of Decathlon's trailblazing strategies and our expertly crafted road bike brand. This role goes beyond mere responsibilities; it embodies a pivotal element of our brand's larger vision. Your involvement in this journey will not only forge a strong connection with our brand but also nurture meaningful collaborations with our esteemed partners.
As the Decathlon x Van Rysel UK Community & Publicity Manager, you'll wear two hats: cultivating thriving online communities and spearheading impactful publicity endeavours. Through fostering genuine connections, crafting engaging content, and closely collaborating with our PR agency and brand, you will play a pivotal role in elevating brand awareness, enhancing engagement, and ultimately driving sales.
Your responsibilities
Community Management:
- Cultivate and engage thriving online communities (including social media, and Reddit) for Van Rysel, fostering positive brand sentiment and genuine conversations.
- Organize monthly ride-outs with key cycling communities, building relationships, generating content, and capturing user-generated content.
- Proactively help identify and engage with key cycling influencers and brand advocates, building relationships and leveraging their reach.
- Actively participate in online conversations, address inquiries promptly, and escalate issues as needed.
- Analyze community activity and implement strategies to grow engagement and reach.
Content Creation:
- Create engaging, mobile-first content for social media platforms, including images and videos.
- Demonstrate strong copywriting skills to effectively express the brand's tone of voice on social media channels.
- Stay up-to-date with cycling trends and propose relevant industry-related content to share with our audience.
Publicity & PR Support:
- Collaborate closely with the PR agency to execute the Van Rysel PR strategy, leveraging your deep understanding of the UK cycling community and brand values.
- Assist with media outreach and content creation for key races and events
- Support influencer partnerships, facilitating content creation, engagement, and in-store visits.
- Collaborate with Van Rysel to provide the information and assets needed for press releases, and media kits.
- Aid content development for events and launches, ensuring they resonate with the community.
- Track and analyze PR and publicity efforts, reporting on key metrics and providing insights for optimization.
Analytics and Reporting:
- Continuously monitor social media channels for trends, conversations, and brand mentions.
- Collaborate on weekly and monthly reports, highlighting key performance indicators and providing actionable insights for improvement.
- Timely completion of assigned tasks with high-quality
- Share relevant insights and updates with the wider team
- Effectively communicate Van Rysel's activities and successes to the wider Decathlon team
Shop-in-Shop Launch (London Surrey Quays):
- Collaborate with the PR agency and store team to generate pre-launch hype through social media campaigns, influencer partnerships, and community engagement.
- Develop engaging launch day activities and content, creating a memorable experience for visitors.
- Facilitate media opportunities and influencer collaborations during the launch event.
- Capture key moments and content for post-launch communication and community engagement.
Additional Responsibilities:
- In-person assistance with event activations and logistics for sponsored events.
- Manage samples and deliveries for media obligations, showrooms, and events.
- Stay up-to-date on cycling industry trends and news, sharing relevant insights with the team.
- Participate in internal communication efforts, keeping the wider Decathlon team informed about Van Rysel's activities and successes.
Who are you?
- A passionate cyclist with a deep understanding of the cycling community and culture.
- 1- 2 years of proven experience in online community management and engagement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in public relations, content creation, or influencer marketing is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
- Proficient in social media management tools and content creation platforms.
Work requirements:
- The successful candidate must be able to work at our Store/Office situated in London (Surrey Quays).
- Availability to work on weekends is essential, particularly when events are scheduled.
