At Deliveroo we have an outstanding data science organisation, with a mission to ensure the highest quality human and machine decision-making.

Data Scientists at Deliveroo report into our data science management team, and we have a active data science community, with guest lecturers, study groups, mentorship programmes, a technical review process, and plenty of opportunities to learn new things. Data Scientists can equally progress as technical leads (individual contributors) and as people managers.

Our data scientists come from all kinds of backgrounds but have excellence in common. Many are formally trained in data science, many are not. We celebrate differences and have a dedicated data science diversity committee.

    About the role

As a digital marketing data scientist, you will work on all aspects of marketing our rider proposition to prospective and returning applicants through a wide array of digital channels.

This will include measuring the incrementality of multiple marketing channels and campaigns, developing logic and processes around spending decisions and supporting strategic our decisions with analysis and accurate reporting.

You will work with the Global Digital Marketing Teams and with technology and commercial teams around the world handling a mixture of projects, ad-hoc analyses and reporting.

    Responsibilities

    • 75% - Develop the models, processes, products and frameworks required to understand the most effective methods and channels to grow and sustain our three-sided marketplace across the 11 countries (and growing) that we operate in
    • 25% - Perform analyses for the business to provide insight into the marketing activities and web/app improvements.

    You will

    • Be inquisitive in nature with both a business mindset and technical skills such as a database query language, and data visualisation tools (Looker advantageous)
    • Domain knowledge of digital marketing channels (paid search, paid social, programmatic), and digital attribution
    • Understand the concepts of incrementality and opportunity cost in decision-making.
    • Have business and economic insight and understand the need for trade-offs between value and cost.
    • Have good partner management skills – clear on who the partners are and when to engage them throughout the project.
    • Be comfortable with debating ideas and opinions. Presenting analysis to managers and the wider business through slide decks and reports is typical.

    Nice-to-haves

    • Previous commercial use of other data mining/statistical languages (Python, R)
    • Experience designing and running test and learn experimentations (A/B testing, statistical significance, power analysis)
    • Experience with predictive analytics, strategic modelling and sensitivities.
    • Knowledge of coding methods. We may not be developers, but we love GitHub and Travis all the same.

    Benefits and Diversity

At Deliveroo we know that people are the heart of the business and we prioritise their welfare. We offer multiple great benefits in areas including health, family, finance, community, convenience, growth, time away and relocation.

We believe a great workplace is one that represents the world we live in and how beautifully diverse it can be. That means we have no judgement when it comes to any one of the things that make you who you are - your gender, race, sexuality, religion or a secret aversion to coriander. All you need is an interest for (most) food and a desire to be part of one of the fastest-growing startups in an exciting space.
