Do you enjoy solving real-life problems and learning from industry leading experts? Do you want to work on a variety of projects that touch all aspects of the energy industry?
Here at DNV, what we do matters. We actively support the Energy industry, be that onshore, offshore, or renewables. However, being based in Aberdeen our main focus is the offshore industry. By helping industry transition to a more decarbonised and sustainable future or helping safeguard life, property and the environment, every day, what you do will make a difference. This is our shared purpose and one our people are proud to be part of.
We provide safety risk and integrity management services to customers in every major energy centre in the world. We achieve this through a variety of industry leading quantitative and qualitative methods, founded on our technical breadth and depth, with collaboration between technical subject matter experts and those with industry knowledge. This can range from complex modelling techniques as well as knowledge of industry good practice, regulations, codes and standards.
The role
As a Graduate Technical Safety Consultant, you’ll join a growing team of diverse thinkers who enjoy finding innovative solutions to the industry’s most challenging problems. You will be given real responsibility from day one, working alongside some of the world’s leading technical experts, on a variety of client projects. You will immediately begin to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding of the Energy industry, as you progress your career with us, including:
- Learning how major accident hazards (MAH), their likelihood and consequences are managed; understanding the importance of reliability of safeguards; and how to make balanced risk-based arguments for safe operations
- Applying consequence and risk assessment methods and tools to solve real customer issues using our in-house software and tools, validated through large/full scale experiments performed at our major hazards testing and research facility in Spadeadam. Gas dispersion studies, functional safety, and quantitative risk assessments are just a taste of the projects that you will work on
- The opportunity to actively engage with clients to understand their challenges as they seek to make the energy industry safer and more sustainable
- Absorb information from experts in customer workshops to understand the industry, the terminology and how different engineering disciplines contribute to safety
- Potential for occasional offshore trips to see how our desk-based work affects operations in the real world
You’ll be stretched but always supported, so don’t worry if the offshore industry or terminology above is unfamiliar to you, we will teach you all you need to know. Upon joining, you will be allocated a mentor to enhance your technical knowledge, as well as ongoing on-the-job coaching and support from your colleagues as you develop your technical, project management, customer interaction skills and work towards chartership.
Based out of our Aberdeen office, our structured Graduate Programme provides a fantastic start to your career with us, enhancing both your technical and professional skills and supporting your journey to become an expert in your chosen field.
