Would you like to work in a friendly, energetic PR team, driven by a mission to ensure every dog has a life worth living?
We have a 6 month FTC available to support our friendly Public Relations team in all its activities on regional and national levels, working two days a week from our London office in Angel, Islington.
Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK, with a nationwide network of rehoming centres and charity shops. Last year, Dogs Trust centres cared for over 9,000 dogs; we never put a healthy dog down.
What you'll do
The Public Relations team sits within the Communications & Digital directorate. We help people to know, love and understand the charity and to take action to support the charity’s work. We use our understanding of Dogs Trust and the needs of our wide and varied audiences to produce impactful, creative, on-brand communications.
We have a strong focus on media relations work, proactively selling stories into media and digital outlets, reacting to enquiries and ensuring we’re equipped to handle a crisis. Our Press Officers are strategically placed around the UK to ensure a geographical spread, each connected to a set of rehoming centres.
In this role, you will provide administrative support to the whole PR team, monitoring the Press Inbox and flagging requests to relevant team members. You’ll contribute to the media monitoring and evaluation process, assist with the creation of press releases and help organise and run PR-related events. You’ll also monitor a programme of journalist engagement and be responsible for the administration of the out-of-hours on call rota.
What we're looking for
We’re looking for someone with strong administrative skills, ideally within a communications environment.
You’ll have significant organisation and time-management skills, and be able to prioritise and juggle reactive and proactive work. You’ll have excellent written and verbal communications skills, with good attention to detail, and an understanding of social media. You’ll be confident in using the MS Office suite.
If you’re a real team player with excellent people skills and an ability to make things happen, we’d love to hear from you!
