    Welcome to Wyvern Academy! We are a vibrant and successful special school in Weymouth for pupils with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties, including autism. The school benefits from a spacious, purpose-made building and caters for up to 89 wonderful pupils aged 2 to 19 years.

    Our school is one of four educational establishments situated on an educational campus close to the stunning Jurassic Coast, a place of renowned natural beauty in the county of Dorset. We are a unique and exceptional single academy trust catering for early years, primary, secondary and sixth form. We have a large staff team of highly skilled, dedicated and experienced staff.

    Who we're looking for

    We are looking for an inspirational individual who understands the importance of a bespoke curriculum and an individualised pathway. If you are flexible and creative with the energy and drive to support children to make and celebrate small but vital steps of progress, we would like to hear from you.

    We welcome applications from all teachers with QTS. Ideally you will have experience of teaching children with special needs however if you have a genuine interest in a career within special education, please apply including your areas of expertise in your application.     This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974.     Keeping children safe in education

    Wyvern Academy will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children.

    All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
