    Most recently, we worked with Rockstar Games to bring the beloved western experience Red Dead Redemption and its horror companion Undead Nightmare together for the first time on the Nintendo Switch and modern PlayStation systems.

    We’re looking for an Undergraduate Game Graphics Programmer Placement to join our award winning team in Middlesbrough (UK), home to the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline and countryside. We can offer up £1300 to cover the cost of UK relocation expenses (this excludes personal expenses such as rent etc.)

    This opportunity offers a year-long industrial placement between September 2024 - August 2025 with a salary of £22,000 for a 2nd year university student currently studying a Game Development or Computer Science related degree.

    What you'll be doing

    This opportunity will see you working on real game code; you’ll be working with current and next generation consoles as well as desktop platforms. You’ll also help to develop our in-house tools and support the overall development process.

    You’ll be working on the same projects as our experienced developers, and will work directly with them, being mentored along the way. You will gain valuable experience in the full games development cycle, including bug tracking and collaborating with a QA team.

    What we're looking for

    A second year student of a Game Development, Computer Science or related degree

    • Enthusiasm for programming, technologies and methods and a desire to keep up to date
    • Excellent C++/C# programming knowledge
    • Experience with 3D graphics APIs such as Direct3D, OpenGL or Vulkan
    • Keen eye for detail
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively

    Skills or interest considered a bonus

    • Excellent maths skills
    • Experience in profiling and optimisation techniques
    • Experience with multithreaded programming
    • Knowledge and experience of game engines such as Unity or Unreal
    • Knowledge of other programming languages such as Python, LUA etc.
    • An interest in games

    What does selection look like?

    Once you've submitted your application, you'll be asked to complete a code self-assessment form sent to your email address. If your application is shortlisted, you’ll be invited to complete a timed online assessment stage followed by a competency-based interview with the Code hiring team.
