As a global gaming company, we’ve helped millions to fight their way through fearsome mobs in Minecraft Dungeons, battle each other and the environment in Rust Console Edition and most recently worked with Bethesda Game Studios to craft new adventures for Vault Dwellers around the world in Fallout 76.

Most recently, we worked with Rockstar Games to bring the beloved western experience Red Dead Redemption and its horror companion Undead Nightmare together for the first time on the Nintendo Switch and modern PlayStation systems.

We’re looking for an Undergraduate Games 3D Animation Placement to join our award winning team in Middlesbrough (UK), home to the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline and countryside. We can offer up £1300 to cover the cost of UK relocation expenses (this excludes personal expenses such as rent etc.)

This opportunity offers a year-long industry placement between September 2024 - August 2025 with a salary of £22,000 for a 2nd year university student.

What you'll be doing

With support, you’ll deliver 3D animations for our projects and ensure any work produced is in-line with the project's technical and artistic direction. You’ll have the opportunity to work with and learn from industry veterans to help push your skills and talent to the next level.

  • Help create gameplay 3D animation that matches the visual style of the game
  • Help implement animation assets into game engine and iterate as appropriate
  • Able to collaborate with other team members to establish, test and refine the animations
  • Able to work with other team members to deliver on gameplay functionality while achieving aesthetic goals
  • Adhere to the aesthetic and technical standards set by the Art leads
  • Assist with optimisation and debugging to fix the issues raised by testers
  • Develop an understanding of best practises, production pipelines and workflows

What we're looking for

We’re on the hunt for a student who has gone beyond the requirements of their course and with this in mind, we’re happy to look at examples of your own projects so feel free to include them with your online application.

This role requires you to be highly skilled, not necessarily highly experienced. Either way expectations are high given our reputation in the industry. In addition to being highly skilled, we place great emphasis on integrity, working hard and team solidarity.

Skills or interest considered a bonus

  • Good knowledge of 3D animation techniques and the principals of animation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Artistic skills; storyboarding and gesture drawing
  • Ability to adapt to new processes and pipelines
  • Working knowledge of 3D animation packages
  • An understanding of composition and visual storytelling
  • A basic understanding of cinematography and pre-visualisation
  • A interest for video games
