Do you want to join a graduate programme in a FTSE 250 company, that’s leading the way in sustainability, and has committed to being carbon negative by 2030?
The role
Over the three-year programme you’ll receive tailored training and support on soft and business-related skills, alongside developing commercial business awareness. You’ll receive support from our early careers team and your mentor, and you’ll develop a network of peers across the business. You will also benefit from the experience and support of our existing finance graduates.
The graduate Programme includes support in gaining a Professional Qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA, ACA and CIPS) which will include off-site training and examinations.
Day to day you’ll provide ongoing support to the different areas of the Finance team, including Procurement, Financial Reporting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Financial Operations, Tax, Treasury and Risk. This will include responsibility for weekly, monthly, and annual tasks, including specific reports, journals, and reconciliations.
We’ll give you the opportunity to learn, grow and take the first step into working life - how far you take it is up to you!
About the Role
You’ll join us as a finance graduate working within our finance team where you’ll experience all elements of a group wide, global finance function. The finance team has overall responsibility for the accurate management, reporting and forecasting of the financials, working closely with all aspects of the business to understand the underlying cost drivers and manage group wide operating and capital expenditure in conjunction with the budget holders. You’ll gain a unique insight into our exciting and dynamic industry, supporting us with exposure to many other functional areas and senior colleagues.
You’ll enthusiastically take on ownership of your delegated tasks, and you’ll be pro-active in suggesting improvements to the different areas worked in. You may also be asked to represent finance on cross functional projects as and when required.
During your rotational programme you’ll provide a positive, meaningful contribution to each team, as you learn first-hand from a group finance team that provides high calibre financial advice and supports the various business units within Drax.
About You
Our Programme offers are conditional based on your results, so we’re asking that you will have achieved, or be expecting to achieve second class degree or higher. You’ll have an inquisitive nature, alongside drive and determination to succeed.
You’ll have good communication skills, both verbal and written and you’ll be a team player who’s able to build effective relationships. You’ll also be conscientious with an eye for detail and able to work under pressure and juggle priorities.
About Drax
We are one of the largest energy generators in the UK, but Drax is not only a power station in the middle of the Yorkshire countryside. We’re a Global company with over 3,500 colleagues operating across the UK, USA, Canada and Japan working together to create a future made of cleaner energy.
We’re at our best when we share inspiration and insight right across Drax, and search for new ideas and ways of working. We welcome applications from everyone and hire great people to build talented and diverse teams.
What happens next?
Once you click “apply,” you’ll be taken through our application questions and adding your CV is optional.
Remember, we want to get to know you as an individual, so don’t forget to let us know your motivations and aspirations as well as why Drax sparked your interest.
The next stage is an invitation to a platform we use for cognitive testing, and if you’re successful, you’ll then be invited to an assessment centre. The assessment centre will give you an opportunity to learn more about the business, the programme and for us to get to know you across a range of different situations.
This programme will start September 2024.
