Trading and Optimisation Analyst Graduate Selby 2024

About the role

The duration of the programme is 24 months, with the option to choose from some of our core and optional rotations throughout, based on your career aspirations and development, and transitioning into a permanent role upon completion of the programme. As a T&O Analyst Graduate, you’ll be involved in seeing how global commodity markets operate and analysing fundamental drivers to help drive decisions and add value. You’ll be working across the Trading and Optimisation function involved in the supply chain all the way through to seeing trade execution. Areas of opportunities during your three 8month rotations include:

  • UK Prompt Trading and Ancillary Services - Analysing the short-term market fundamental driving UK power marketswhere volatility increases as you react to short term uncertainty.
  • UK Forward Trading - Driving longer term fundamental market modelling to consider uncertaintyand develop scenarios in the power market out 3 years to help drive decisions.
  • European Power - Assessinghow the Increasing interconnection between the UK and volatile European marketsimpacts UK power markets
  • Optimisation and Logistics - Working across the business to optimise the supply chain and generationplan to maximise value whilst managing constraints

About you

Our placement offers are based on certain conditions, specifically your results. We're hoping that you have achieved, or are expecting to achieve, a 2:1 or 2:2 with a masters in a relevant subject. For this program, we believe that numerical and analytical skills are incredibly important. Along with that, having an exceptional attention to detail and the ability to handle complexity will definitely come in handy. We want you to know that there will be a lot of collaboration in each rotation of the program. So, having strong communication skills and the ability to tell a story through your work and data will definitely be a major advantage for you!
