This represents an opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to join the finance team. The role will support the Financial Controller in ensuring timeliness and accuracy of key information that will be used to evaluate performance, manage cash flow and form the basis for strategic decision making.
The role
As an Assistant Financial Accountant you will play a crucial role in the financial department and will be responsible for assisting in various financial and accounting activities, with a primary emphasis on payroll processing, payables management, sales forecasting related tasks.
Payroll Processing:
- Calculate and process payroll, including regular salaries, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
- Keep track of employee benefits, such as health insurance and retirement contributions.
- Generate payroll reports and statements as required.
Data Entry and Accuracy:
- Review and verify the accuracy of payroll data to prevent errors.
- Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
- Record financial transactions in accounting software accurately and promptly.
- Verify and ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial documents and supporting records.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and ledgers.
General Accounting Support:
- Assist in general accounting tasks, such as accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Support the financial controller in budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Perform reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
Reconciliation:
- Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies and errors in financial records.
- Ensure that all financial transactions are properly documented and reconciled.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with the finance team to help create and manage budgets.
- Participate in financial forecasting and variance analysis.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and provide insights.
Key Skills
Required:
- 2:1 or above Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Part qualified ACCA or similar
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of drive with the ability to work to tight deadlines
