Here at Dunelm, our Insight & Analytics (I&A) team put data and insight at the heart of decision marketing across the business.
This role will drive business decision making through understanding the customer behaviours across website and stores, both at Dunelm and amongst our competitors. You will generate insights and recommendations to drive business strategy and decisions, ensuring we are putting the customer at the heart of everything we do.
Joining our I&A team, you will have an enthusiasm for learning about and understanding how customers shop the world of retail. During your 12-month placement you will be coached and mentored by a range of the best I&A colleagues.

What you'll be doing
What your 12 months will look like
During your placement you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience of the different areas of work undertaken by analysts in the I&A team. These will include:
- Understanding how the wider macro-economic client is affecting customers shopping habits
- Analysing how customers are shopping at Dunelm through a variety of different data sources and analytical tools.
- Providing actionable insight into customer behaviour to teams across Dunelm, in order to drive strategic and customer-led decisions
- Working closely with the Research team to integrate data driven insight and customer research
- As a key member of the I&A team you will play an important role in contributing towards the culture, as well as being an advocate for data, insight and the voice of the customer throughout the business.
What you’ll bring
- Strong analytical thinking with a natural tendency to question the “why” and the “how”
- Ability to build relationships within your team and across the wider business
- Some knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Creative and curious, with the ability to interrogate data in order to deeply understand drivers of trends
- Strong self-management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to deadlines.
- Strong organisational skills
- A self-starter, able to demonstrate high levels of initiative and motivation
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills: the ability to effectively interact with others
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as take initiative independently.
- Be a second year student at University looking for an undergraduate placement year.
