This position supports Current Product or Product Development project teams or Engineering Services programs and conducts specific medium to high complexity tasks assigned. Works individually or as a part of a team and with other engineering or cross-functional disciplines to deliver as per customer needs and expectations. Presents technical information/project status to Eng. Manager.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing manufacturing engineering requests.
- Production issues support – help to support reactive production issues in a timely and effective manner
- Responsible for ensuring successful conclusion of all phases of assigned standard engineering projects within an appropriate time.
- Investigates / troubleshoots problems and requirements of projects & develops plans for solutions.
- Coordinate with other departments on assigned tasks and secures / reviews inputs from various stakeholders and make recommendations accordingly.
- Provides data for team-level measures.
- They may also act as technical leaders for small projects.
- Executes design tasks based on direction from others
- Understands and implements mechanical systems design fundamentals
- Able to apply fundamental mechanical principals and physics to designs
- Has deeper understanding of drawing standards
- Has a deeper understanding of design for manufacturing and cost
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- General understanding of physics, mechanical principals, concepts, and interpretation of results
- Able to populate a compliance matrix based on existing data and designs
- Basic understanding of aerospace regulatory standards, regulations, and certifications
- Applies established engineering processes to complete project requirements.
- Knowledge of leaning manufacturing and business improvement
- Maintain process standard time and improvement via time studies
Qualifications
Preferred education level:
- Bachelor’s Degree (2:1) and above or HNC and equivalent experience
Years and area of experience required:
- Minimum 2 years post graduate design / engineering experience. A professional accreditation is preferable.
Technical knowledge:
- Create and design tools and fixturing
- 8D problem solving experience
- AutoCad
- Process and drawing creation for manufacture
- Hydraulic and nematic experience
- Trained in a problem-solving methodology such as 8D or Red-X.
Soft skills:
- Ability to work as part of a team, take a leading role or individually. Organized and able to multi task. Proactive and often creating standard work instructions. Good communication skills.
