What you’ll do
The primary function of this role is to assist in the design, prototyping, and manufacturing of fire safety devices. The Mechanical Engineering Intern collaborates with experienced engineers, conducts research, and supports quality assurance to ensure our products meet the highest industry standards. The inten will also lead sustaining activities like product support and component obsolescence.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate on Design: Work closely with the mechanical engineering team to assist and/or lead the creation and improvement of designs.
- Prototyping: Participate in the development and testing of prototypes, evaluating and enhancing product performance and functionality.
- Support Manufacturing: Partner with the manufacturing team to facilitate the smooth transition from design to production, with a focus on design optimization for manufacturability and assembly.
- CAD support: Employ CAD software to produce detailed drawings and models.
- Quality assurance: Contribute to quality control processes to ensure that products meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- General support: Contribute to business support activities like related to product and production support and component obsolescence activities
- Stay Informed through Research: Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing techniques relevant to fire safety devices, providing valuable insights to enhance product development.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Engage in collaborative efforts with cross-functional teams by leading meetings, project management of small projects and presenting out project status to key stakeholders
About you
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Mechanical design and manufacturing exposure is a plus
Skills
- Proficiency in CAD software. SolidWorks experience is a plus
- Microsoft office
- Communication and teamwork
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented
