Key responsibilities

  • Produce 2D geotechnical models and drawings using geotechnical design software for routine design problems (slope stability, retaining wall design, settlement/movement impact assessment etc.).
  • Completing design calculations for foundations and applying specific methods appropriate to in-situ ground conditions.
  • Assist in producing technical documents including desk studies, ground investigation reports (GIRs), geotechnical design reports (GDRs), specifications.
  • Designing ground investigation campaigns and procurement documentation and drawings;
  • Supervising ground investigations in the field and other geotechnical related aspects of construction.
  • Scheduling laboratory tests on collected samples and reviewing results/borehole logs.

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential:

  • Minimum 2.1 Bachelor Degree or Masters in Civil Engineering, Engineering
  • Geology, Geology or similar related subject.
  • Enthusiasm for a career in ground engineering.
  • Can communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and outside agencies and build effective working relationships and always aiming to exceeding client expectations.
  • Adheres to all Codes of Practice, Design Standards and Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Is committed to Continued Professional Development.
    The ability to work as part of a team.
  • Problem solving and organisational skills.

Desirable:

  • Member of Engineers Ireland or other relevant professional body.
  • Awareness of types of engineering contracts.
  • Knowledge of BIM and an understanding of core concepts and principles.
  • Experience in the field of geotechnical works.
  • Full clean drivers license.
  • Awareness of the principles of Eurocodes in geotechnical design
