    What you’ll do at Elekta

    This role is for a Graduate Engineer to join our R&D team in Crawley to work on new and existing Linac platform systems. The team works within an agile development framework and is engaged in the development of the Elekta Linac and MR Linac machines.

    As part of this role, the Graduate Engineer will join the two-year Elekta Graduate Program where they will be supported to grow their technical knowledge and experience. The Engineering Graduate will work alongside more senior engineers and designers as a member of a team contributing to all aspects of the product development lifecycle from requirements through design & development into production.

    Our R&D Engineering Team within Elekta Limited (Crawley site) employs around 100 people, across the main domains of Mechanical, Electrical, Design, Software, and Test/Prototyping.

    The Graduate Engineer will be given many opportunities to work in multidisciplinary teams to develop mechanical structures, assemblies, and parts.

    In addition to growing technical skills, the Elekta Graduate Program gives you the opportunity to develop your communication and business understanding skills with placements in different areas of Elekta Ltd. Placements will be planned with the Graduate Engineer and could include Manufacturing, Service, Safety, Supply Chain, Marketing & Sales, and more.

    The right stuff

    • Formulate and analyse requirements to develop engineering solutions.
    • Create engineering work plans.
    • Provide detailed mechanical engineering designs to meet project timescales.
    • Ensure that all required engineering documentation has been created and captured.
    • Ensure that designs are safe and comply with all applicable regulatory standards (under guidance)
    • Take a supporting role in integrating mechanical designs with all other project deliverables.
    • Ensure that designs are created according to engineering processes and procedures.
    • Interface with, and provide support to, all project groups including operations, product management, service engineering, etc.
    • Conduct and deliver cost-reduction projects whilst still maintaining quality.
    • Design, implement, and integrate experimental systems to evaluate prototype designs.
    • Carry out evaluations of prototype designs.

    What we believe you have

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree accredited by the IET.
    • Interest in R&D in a regulated environment (preferably medical)
    • Familiarity with electronic CAD tools for analogue/digital design
    • Experience of electronics simulation packages
    • Experience of building prototype Electronics including hands on soldering
    • Ability to manage and prioritize own tasks and those of others.
    • Ability to take a holistic when analysing problems and proposing solutions.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Excellent communication skills, with a positive influencing style
    • Fluent in English
    • Good appreciation of software, mechanics, electronics, and physics as applied to Elekta products.

    Desirable

    • Experience of Analogue Electronics Design
    • Experience of Digital Electronics Design
    • Experience of VHDL
    • Embedded Software
    • Experience of implementing serial communications, e.g. CAN
    • Experience of EMC testing
