    You will join the UK & Ireland Sales group, where you can expect excellent technical, product and sales training with a market leader and the opportunity to learn from some of the best managers and engineers in our industries.

    The Role

    You will partake in a structured twelve months technical and sales programme rotating around the UK sales business, so you will need to be flexible in relocating and spending approx. 3 months in Leicester and Aberdeen and six months in Stockport.

    This will provide you with a solid grounding technically across multiple business units (for example Process Systems & Solutions, Final Control, Measurement & Analytical and Lifecycle Services amongst other business units.)

    Training will be provided via our Global Learning centre, product/systems specialists, hands-on at our overseas manufacturing sites and underpinned by a 12 months Level four Sales executive programme.

    You will be provided with a mentor from the business and a buddy who has participated in the Graduate Programme previously.

    You will embrace every aspect of the sales process including opportunity creation, solution engineering, proposal development, negotiation, closing, booking and processing customer orders.

    Aspects of the role will be customer facing and will require close cooperation with office and field-based sales engineers as well as directly with customers to ensure that customer responses are consistent, and address identified business needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    Sales Process

    • Understand how to leverage Emerson capabilities to solve customer business challenges and to maximise Emerson sales revenue opportunities
    • Consult with customers to understand their business needs and develop a business value proposition specific to the customer requirement
    • Perform local market analysis to establish customer requirements and the business behaviours required to achieve goals in target areas
    • Create quotations based on the engineered solutions and present them in a format that sells their value to customers – this includes establishing appropriate pricing and commercial terms and conditions of sale
    • Work with Field Sales Engineers and account managers to follow up quotations with the view to turning them into orders  
    • Be actively involved in the sales strategy and qualification process for each of the Business Units with a view to better integrating our market offering.  Be the voice of the customer in those discussions
    • Fully engage in the active promotion of target sales campaigns and/or new product releases

    Business Processes

    • Work directly with customers to technically cleanse orders prior to them being loaded onto the Emerson business system
    • Work with customers and with the appropriate internal Emerson departments to ensure all legal, commercial and trade compliance requirements are met prior to orders being acknowledged
    • Performs local market analysis to establish industry sector price benchmarking to ensure competitive and profitable sales
    • Identify new adjacent space markets and develop marketing strategies to create new additional revenue streams
    • Promote the sale of products and services ensuring consistency with the Business Units’ strategic plans, embracing a solution sales approach
    • Prepare and present technical and commercial proposals to both customers and at internal reviews
    • Ability to undertake both technical and commercial negotiations during the project proposal process
    • Understand Business Unit growth initiatives and strategies and how to apply to each project pursuit
    • Maintain evergreen customer records on the Emerson CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system
    • Where necessary provide timely input and feedback for Business Unit order forecasts

    • Supported by the Business Units, take ownership for keeping abreast of our product updates and new product releases
    • Keep up to date with on-going enhancements in various selling tools

    • Mentor from the business for the duration of the programme

    Required Qualifications and Experience

    • Minimum of 2:2 university degree or equivalent, in STEM disciplines 
    • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, to include Mathematics and English Language
    • A genuine interest in STEM disciplines
    • Flexibility to travel throughout the UK & Ireland and abroad
    • A Valid Full clean driving license preferred and the use of a car (there will be frequent travel throughout the programme)
    • English fluency to business standard essential
    • Demonstrate strong communication skills both verbally and written
    • I.T. Literacy and experience in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
