Evoke Fillms are looking for an experienced Archive Researcher to research, acquire and log archive footage, from both internal sources (IMG’s extensive footage library) and from external footage suppliers & rights holders, across a range of subjects and sporting disciplines.

Summary

Reporting to Research & Rights Manager, the Archive Researcher will research, source, and clear a variety of archive footage across various projects.

The Archive Researcher will be pro-active, self-sufficient and adept at maintaining good relationships with clients and source providers on behalf of the client.

 You will have the opportunity to work within IMG’s branded content and commercials division, Evoke Films and potentially support other productions within the department; however, the role will primarily service our largest client.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support Evoke producers and 3rd party Production Partners in the creation of archive-based video content for our client, an iconic luxury brand
  • Research and acquire footage from IMG’s archive library, rights holders and commercial archive suppliers and ensure this is comprehensively logged across Evoke Film’s internal MAM systems and rights databases
  • Research and select footage to creative briefs and support creative development work by offering creative concepts and solutions and showcasing editorially appropriate material
  • Collaborate with Rights and Media Management teams to provide seamless delivery of assets and any relevant commercial and technical information to Production Partners
  • Provide quality control for all content delivered to Production Partners and our client
  • Nurture and maintain good relationships with our client, rights owners and sports federations
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of our client’s sponsorship arrangements, footage access rights, brand ambassadors and upcoming events. Offer guidance and advice to creative teams on any restrictions and limitations that may impact on usage and licensing arrangements
  • Support the Rights team with archive, voice over and music clearance where required. This may include negotiating licence fees, managing rights budgets and approving key rights terms in contractual agreements
  • Create and deliver training materials to 3rd parties and freelance staff and educate stakeholders in client history and key account information.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Good sports and cultural knowledge
  • Experience of working in a footage, archive, sport or TVC production environment
  • Experience in sourcing, costing and clearing footage from around the world
  • Experience in logging rushes, selecting material for edits
  • Creation and management of research and backup documentation
  • Knowledge of different video, film and digital media formats
  • Knowledge of file-based workflows
  • Management of media from conception to delivery of the project
  • Proficient with Adobe Premier Edit skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Showing editorial initiative when identifying footage
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal) and excellent interpersonal skills
  • A meticulous approach to work and able to present detailed information clearly and accurately.

Working Conditions

  • This is a fixed-term contract role until December 2022 and will be based at Chiswick Business Park, London with occasional travel to the IMG Studios office based at Stockley Business Park, Uxbridge
  • Possible weekend work during edits
  • Working times may vary, due to client’s location in a different time zone.
