Yorkshire has a great variety of geological and groundwater interests and pressures, including the chalk aquifer which supports the most northerly chalk streams in the world. Groundwater is vital for maintaining the health of rivers, wetlands and essential for industrial, agricultural and private water supply. We support the appropriate regulation and management of this precious resource in a variety of ways including, but not limited to:
- Responding to planning consultations from local authorities.
- Providing technical advice to customers on sites affected by land contamination.
- Working with our National Permitting Service to determine Environmental Permits and Water Resources Licences and consents.
- Providing technical advice on compliance activities to internal regulatory teams, including waste, installations and water regulation.
- Supporting the management of Yorkshire’s Groundwater Level and Groundwater Quality networks and assessing the resulting data.
- Providing hydrogeological advice to various external customers and stakeholders.
The range of work undertaken makes this a great opportunity for someone seeking to develop a career in hydrogeology.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate. This may attract an additional payment and full training will be available. Please see the candidate pack for information on how you will support with this.
