    The position

    The role of Shipping Market Analyst sits within the area of Global External Analysis (GEA) which is responsible for global short, medium and long-term analysis of markets and for the follow-up and influencing of the legislative, regulatory & energy policy frameworks for all products Equinor produces and sells.

    We are looking for candidates to join our Crude Products and Liquids (CPL) Team, which has global responsibility for crude, liquids and natural gas liquids markets, including views on physical refining, products markets, and maritime strategies.

    In addition, the team is responsible for monitoring and engaging on policy and regulatory developments that impact our liquids business in several European countries. The team has a front row seat in the follow-up and development of policy and regulation that underpins the climate/energy transition, at national level as well as EU level.

    By joining our team in Marketing, Midstream & Processing you will have the opportunity to:

    • Develop and maintain fundamentals analysis on the freight markets.
    • Conduct research and analysis of shipping and energy markets.
    • Build supply and demand models for major oil freight routes and segments.
    • Work in a team with other analysts to gather the relevant information for oil freight demand.
    • Monitor and project major development of the fleet supply and bunker fuels.
    • Connect fundamentals and prices to unveil trading insights and opportunities.
    • Provide research and analytical support to the senior management team and prepare market commentaries.
    • Conduct ad-hoc analysis as required by traders, charterers and management.
    • Support projects as required to facilitate Equinor’s development and develop views and scenarios for the energy transition within the maritime industry.

    For this position, we are also looking for:

    • Strong analytical skills and experience, which have been gained within shipping, oil, gas, and / or financial markets.
    • The ability to effectively develop and utilise models and tools in a commercial environment.
    • Experience or knowledge of tanker and gas carriers is desirable.
    • A commercial mindset and a desire to understand world markets.
    • The ability to easily adapt to new IT/digital updates and trends.
    • Confident communication skills, both oral and written.
    • An assured team player, who can thrive across organisational interfaces and who can build networks across multiple business units.
    • Strong attitude towards continuous improvement.
    • Self-driven and able to challenge accepted truths.
