Kent Community Safety Team (KCST) and Kent Police Analytical Team are looking for a dynamic and proactive analyst for the next 3 years to provide insight and research into a range of community safety issues.
This is a fixed term contract or secondment position for up to 3 years (ending 31st March 2028), although this could be extended dependant on future funding.
The role of the KCST Analyst will sit within the Kent Police Analytical Team but will support the work of the multi-agency KCST formed of Kent Police and Kent County Council Community Safety.
The analyst role will work with a wide network of police and partnership analysts and subject matter experts.
The role will include using a variety of data sources to provide qualitative and quantitative analysis to inform:
Progress against performance measures in the Kent Community Safety Agreement and the supporting action plans, prioritisation and resource deployment through the development of strategic and tactical assessments and reports, and effective partnership problem solving by developing profiles on locations and issues
To be considered for the role, you will need to demonstrate
- Previous experience of analysis and/or research skills
- Experience of presenting findings through effective report writing and in-person at meetings to a wide group of people.
- Proven strong communication skills
- Evidence of applying problem solving methods
- Education to A level, preferably in a Maths based subject, with a GCSE in Maths and English (Grade C/5)
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft products including SharePoint, Excel and Teams
It would also be desirable if you can demonstrate
- Working with public sector/partnership data
- Qualification or accredited intelligence analyst (such as IPP accreditation or IAT Certification), and/or
- Qualification or accredited in statistics or data analysis
- Experience in Power BI or other data visualisation tools
Your role can primarily be undertaken from home, if you are approved as a Home Based Worker. However, you are required to work from the office on a weekly basis alongside colleagues from the KCST. This currently takes place on Thursdays in the Maidstone area. You will also be required to attend the Kent Police Analytical Team ‘Team Zone’ twice a month. This is to be arranged with your line manager and is located in Sittingbourne. You may also be required to attend in-person meetings at different police stations and partner agency buildings across Kent, therefore a full, clean driving licence is required along with access to a suitably insured vehicle that allows for business use, although Pool Cars may be available.
Full training will be provided where necessary. Training will include, if not already accredited, a 12 month Intelligence Analysis Apprenticeship and MS Power BI and Reporting training. Appropriate time will be factored into your workload to enable this training and learning.
