Job Description
Life as a Data Analyst is all about having a curious mind. As an Industrial Placement Student at Experian, you’ll work in one of our business areas and use programming languages like SQL, SAS and Python to extract, manipulate and analyse data.
You’ll also help to make sense of this data by deriving insights and trends! Day to day you could be contributing to data reports, MI or even working on a product proof-of-concept for future clients (where you take a sample of data from a client and assess what benefit that future product could offer them).
Throughout this industrial placement, communication skills are important as you’ll be working with a variety of people and may have to translate technical work to non-technical stakeholders. You will also have chance to put your creative flair to use, through understanding our processes and suggesting enhancements for the future. We actively want you to challenge the way we do things.
If you want to work with interesting data, apply your analytical skills to real-world scenarios and help Experian unlock new opportunities for our clients and consumers, then this is the Industrial Placement for you!
For the last 15 years, we’ve successfully trained Industrial Placement Students within Data Analytics, many of whom go on to re-join us after graduating. It’s an exciting time, and we want you on board. If you choose to join us, you can expect industry training, wide-reaching career opportunities and a wealth of support through our Early Careers Network, buddy, line manager & mentor scheme.
Our concept is simple. We believe in expanding horizons – it’s what makes Experian a global leader and a Top UK Tech Employer.
Qualifications
To apply for this opportunity, you must be able to undertake a year in industry placement during July 2023 until August 2024 as part of your undergraduate degree at a UK University and be on track to graduate in 2025.
Due to the technical nature of this role it’s important you have a numerate background. In most cases, our Data Analyst Placement students will be studying towards a Bachelor’s degree course with a high mathematical content (for example Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research (O.R.), Economics, Physical Sciences, Engineering etc).
Any knowledge of machine learning, computer programming, statistical techniques (eg. SAS/SPSS, or R) or data visualisation tools (eg. Tableau) is valuable but not essential to the role.
It’s also key to be an analytical thinker, have good communication skills and a thirst for learning.
