    As an industrial placement student, and whatever you’re studying, we’ll help make sure you get the most out of your time with us. Fidelity is a fantastic place to learn, innovate and grow.     During the 12-month Industrial Placement Programme - Market Data, you will help to connect the worlds of data and business. If you are successful, you would join the following team:

    Market Data

    • The Fidelity Market Data team has responsibility for all commercial, technical and governance of Market Data activity in the UK, Europe, and Asia. The team act on a consulting basis with the business to deliver external Market Data in a cost-effective way.
    • Market Data take the lead on all Market Data vendor contract negotiations, new business requirements, tender processes (working with Procurement), governance activity (Audits, training, Policy, and alignment with Data Governance), administration and reporting, as well technical support and consultancy alongside the technical delivery teams who provide real-time data services.
    • During the 12-month Industrial Placement programme - Market Data, you will assist in strengthening and developing capability in the UK. This will involve collaborating closely with business stakeholders, including Business and Vendor Managers (BVMs), Procurement, and Supplier Risk (SRM) Teams across Fidelity.
    • To be successful, you’ll need to build strong internal relationships and ensure that both sides can communicate effectively and understand each other.
    • You will develop a deep understanding of our inhouse software, such as MDSL, and check that any modification we make is understood and agreed by both sides, and you will facilitate this change.
    • You will use your problem solving skills to help manage data and use insights from this data to suggest and help implement enhancements to our systems and processes and establish better links between our teams.
    • This role requires a proactive approach and deep curiosity to learn more about the business and overseeing all contracted services being delivered by a market data supplier to all areas of the business.

    • Exposure to several central functions teams that support the 800+ global Investment Technology team, including financial forecasting, change oversight and planning, communications, risk, and audit.
    • Ensuring market data suppliers are managed in line with enterprise supplier risk methodology and Procurement policy.
    • Learning how to use analytics and management information tools to develop data visualisations and dashboards to effectively present your ideas and thoughts to large audiences.
    • Learning how to apply data cleansing and data standardisation rules, providing clear documentation of the business rules embedded in the system.
    • Ensuring that you keep up to date with the market trends, products and technology and disseminate the information throughout the team and business.
    • Working closely with the team to gain knowledge regarding a BVM’s and SRM’s workflow.
    • Supporting the team with system updates and improvements.
    • Writing and maintaining documentation to provide transparency and maintain the knowledge base.
    • Learning how to manage and document meetings; successfully capturing issues, enhancements, and action points.

    You’ll start with a welcome and an orientation, where you’ll meet your fellow Industrial Placement students and find out all about us and our work. After that, there are many more ways to develop your skills as your placement progresses including completing of Unit 1 of the Investment Operations Certificate (IOC).

    Once the programme begins, you’ll learn every day – from the experts around you and through tackling real projects. Our focus will be on supporting you to gain experience and discover what kind of future you could build in our industry.

    Support is part of our culture, so you’ll have a buddy and a mentor to help you whenever you need. And you’ll join a close-knit early careers community, with plenty of social and networking events to help you find your feet and feel at home.

    We’ll also need you to

    • be graduating in 2026 (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree)
    • have the right to work in the UK at point of application. If you are currently on a Tier 4 / Student Visa, this means you have the right to work in the UK

    Please note that there are two online assessments which you’ll need to complete by the time the window closes. They both take around 40 minutes to complete, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time. We’ve worked hard to ensure our process is fast and efficient. That means our application deadline is not about just ‘getting your foot’ in the door by the deadline, you need to apply and pass up-to-two online strengths-based assessments by then too. We process applications on a rolling basis, and therefore an early application is advised.

    To prepare, you may wish to complete our Technology and Digital virtual experience. It is a free, self-paced programme which gives you an insight into Technology and Digital at Fidelity. Completion typically takes 6-7 hours in total.

    All assessment centres are expected to take place February/March 2024.
