About the Programme

Programme Length: Two and a half years 

Programme Type: Rotational 

The Strategy & Competition division develop initiatives and strategies to stimulate and maintain competition within the sector, developing policy and communication tools to further our statutory objectives. It is made up of four main subdivisions: Innovation, Communications, Policy and Competition & Economics The teams in Strategy and Competition work together to make decisions on the overarching strategy of the organisation and how the FCA achieves its goals. Our focus is on building strong relationships with everyone from consumer groups and industry contacts to the media and government stakeholders. We also spot problems before they get out of hand and put into place the necessary regulatory actions 

There’s a wide variety of teams and job roles within the Strategy & Competition Division and you’ll get the chance to work on a variety of projects that include writing policy, promoting competition, undertaking research and drafting communications. You’ll work with colleagues across the organisation and quickly understand the FCA’s innovation agenda, for the external and internal market, including the use of data and technology in regulation. This is a great opportunity to use your analytical skills to make a real contribution to the development of our strategy and business plan.

Our staff have diverse backgrounds, and no specific degree stands out as being essential, but we're looking for somebody who is curious and can demonstrate their initiative and confidence to take on responsibility. 

You will learn a lot on the job, so you’ll need to be eager to learn, quickly pick up new information and have a talent for working with analytics and research. You’ll also be a great communicator, both in person and in writing.
