    Unlike most other graduate tax roles, we are looking for someone to join and start supporting us on tax advisory work from day one. This would be a 3-year apprenticeship training contract to study for both the ATT and CTA qualifications.  Full training and support will be provided.

    Role and responsibilities:

    We are looking for someone to support the Founders and Tax Director on:

    • (S)EIS – claims for relief – preparing advance assurance applications to HMRC and HMRC notifications (compliance statements) and certifications.
    • EMI & CSOPs – preparing valuation reports, completing Val231 forms, submitting valuation requests to HMRC, preparing HMRC notifications and Employment Related Securities annual returns.
    • R&D tax credits – preparing R&D reports to evidence the claim for tax relief.
    • Tax advisory – ad hoc support.

    You will not to be required to prepare tax computations or returns (tax compliance).

    What we are looking for:

    The ideal candidate will have the following skills, experience, and personal attributes.

    • The ideal candidate will be a graduate with at least a 2:1 degree. We accept applications from relevant and non-relevant degree disciplines.
    • Responsive – an excellent communicator over video (particularly), phone and email. The ability to provide clear, straightforward recommendations on technical matters.
    • A self-starter – proactive and prepared to ask questions when unsure; a quick learner.
    • Collaborative – enjoys working in a collegiate environment, supporting others, and seeking help where required.
    • Hungry for development and progression.
    • Excellent expectation management.

    Training offered

    As well as on the job training, we are offering a three-year apprenticeship training contract to complete the ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians) and CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser) qualifications.

    ATT

    Students will sit any two of the six ATT Online Exams (shown below) which form Core Knowledge 1. They also have to complete Core Knowledge 2, which will consist of one of the remaining four ATT Online Exams or the CTA Awareness paper.

    The three Computer Based Examinations (CBEs) – Principles of Accounting, Law and Professional Responsibilities & Ethics – are compulsory.  All three CBEs must have been passed (or exemptions claimed) before a student can enter for their final CTA examination paper(s).

    Paper 1: Personal Taxation

    Paper 2: Business Taxation

    Paper 3: Business Compliance

    Paper 4: Corporation Taxation

    Paper 5: Inheritance Tax, Trusts & Estates

    Paper 6: VAT

    The CTA examinations would then follow.
