We’re looking for a dynamic Associate Data Engineer to join one of the most exciting teams within Flutter UK & Ireland – the Data Tribe!
Your team
Data are the tribe that takes raw information and puts intelligence in the hands of decision makers. Our teams design and build Flutter UKI’s data capabilities throughout the data’s processing lifecycle, from data warehousing platforms and business reporting through to machine learning and predictive modelling.
We strongly believe the data we serve makes a difference, and we are on a journey to migrate our data warehouse to the cloud, to unleash more of its vast potential.
Our strategy is to migrate from Google Cloud Platform to our common shared data platform in AWS utilising their Big Data tools and services. We are underway with this project and skills in cloud platforms and service with an associated accreditation is an advantage.
If you’re the kind of person who embraces challenges and is able help the team to think “outside of the box” to unblock processes, you would be an ideal fit for this role.
What you’ll do
- Embrace a career of learning and developing your data engineering skills; be receptive of regular feedback and constructive criticism.
- Contribute towards the construction of data pipelines whilst conforming to SDLC patterns spanning code promotion, deployment and continuous delivery.
- Contribute enthusiastically to the enhancement of coding practices, quality, tooling and Agile processes.
- Create and maintain high quality documentation ensuring readability, maintainability and testability.
- Communicate constructively with peers, seniors and stakeholders in all territories.
- Play a proactive part in owning your team's data services.
- Assist in answering technical questions and business enquiries.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming and knowledge sharing sessions.
How you’ll do it
- Demonstrate a desire and interest in working with Big Data platforms, employing best practices around data processing on an industrial scale.
- Have an appreciation (and ideally some experience) within software development in an object oriented and/or functional programming setting; technical skills relevant to our data engineering domain such as SQL and Python would be advantageous
- Demonstrate an appreciation and willingness to study data modelling techniques and their applications, including warehousing, lakes and marts.
- Challenge yourself to gain hands-on experience with data ingestion and processing patterns of both streamed and batched data.
- Learn how data pipeline orchestration operates and its application within a Cloud platform.
- Gain an understanding of Software Delivery Lifecycle (SDLC) / Continuous Deployment / Integration (CI/CD), its associated products and tools.
- Learn and apply source control management flows (such as Gitflow).
- Adapt to evolving technology landscape and its inherent technical challenges; work in a fast-paced, dynamic and Agile organisation.
