We are an executive agency of HMRC with around 4,000 people and we currently need graduate surveyors to support us in our vital valuation work both as APC candidates and future fully chartered surveyors
Job Description
We are looking for eager and talented individuals who already hold, or will hold by September 2023, a RICS accredited pathway degree or masters in Real Estate or Valuation at 2:2 or above which aligns with the Valuation pathway.
As part of the graduate programme we will support you to complete your Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and will provide you with the training and development you will need to become a fully qualified Chartered Surveyor.
When you join the Graduate programme you will undertake a variety of roles including surveying and valuing properties for Council Tax, Non-Domestic Rating, Inheritance Tax, Compulsorily Purchase and much more.
We will provide full training and mentoring via a dedicated training programme to make sure you get the right mix of work and breadth of experience required to complete your APC and become a Chartered Valuation Surveyor.

Responsibilities
- Working across our Regional & National Valuation Units and/or District Valuer Services teams, surveying and valuing properties for Council Tax, Non-Domestic Rating, Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax to name a few.
- Taking the lead on property inspections through to analysis and settlement of property values.
- Managing your own caseload once you have completed the relevant training and have developed your confidence.
- Maintaining a diary of your experience to form your APC submission.
- Being responsible for your own Continuous Professional Development (CPD) hours, necessary to evidence at the time of your final submission to the RICS.
- Travelling on a regular basis which may include overnight stays or change base location to ensure the right work and support is available to you during the course of the programme.
Essential Requirements
A RICS accredited pathway degree or masters in Real Estate or Valuation at 2:2 or above or MSc in Real Estate (by 1st September 2023). Your qualification must be fully complete and awarded by this date. If you currently hold any of the above qualifications you may be offered a post prior to September 2023 subject to business need.
Full UK/EU Driving Licence – A Provisional licence is accepted at time of application however a FULL licence must be attained and evidenced within 6 months of take up date. If you are considered disabled under the Equality Act 2010 and do not hold a full driving license, we will consider your application.
Have sound analytical skills and good judgement to inform decisions and provide opinions or advice to other. Demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills both verbally and written.
Have strong organisational skills to manage a diverse workload, delivering to deadlines and traveling regularly. Be self-motivated, flexible and prepared to perform a range of duties.
