Excited by innovation and technology? Why not consider a career in R&D tax credits? You could be playing a vital part in supporting businesses in the UK to access the best R&D tax advice, and in turn helping to shape the future of innovation in the UK.
About us
We’re ForrestBrown, a firm of chartered tax advisers specialising in research and development (R&D) tax. Our team has substantial experience and technical expertise in this field which, combined with our passion for our clients and entrepreneurial spirit, helps us deliver outstanding results for a wide portfolio of innovative clients. We have offices in Bristol, Scotland and London and are proud to be one of the largest specialist R&D tax teams in the UK.
What you'll do
As part of our research team, you’ll work closely with tax advisor colleagues and sector specialists in our R&D tax credit practice to write clear, concise, accurate and technically robust reports of clients’ qualifying R&D projects.
You’ll be a key point of contact to show our clients that we understand their business and the intricacies of their R&D work in a particular field of science or technology. We’ll look to you to do the technical research to gather information about our clients, their sectors and industry. That will involve regular contact with our clients as part of their project team, discussing their technically complex work in detail to uncover the information needed to maximise their claim on their behalf. You’ll then produce excellent, high quality written reports to support the claim, clearly and articulately communicating the depth and detail of our clients’ innovation and demonstrating how it meets HMRC’s criteria. Our work is broad and varied and you will be excited by the opportunity to meet and discuss innovation with clients across a variety of sectors from digital software, through energy, construction, retail, and manufacturing to name a few.
Who you are
So, if you have natural curiosity, love getting to grips with the detail of innovation and have a flair for the written word then this could be the role for you. You don’t need a tax or industry-specific background, though. We welcome all kinds of qualities and experiences. Ideally, you’ll have a degree in a STEM subject and a specialism in civil engineering or similar would be advantageous. Perhaps you have experience as a research intern or are an experienced report-writer, analyst, or technologist who is used to processing lots of information and isolating key technical details – or you might be an engineering professional looking for an alternative career. It’s fair to say you will need to have a flair for the written word and be proactive and enthusiastic, with excellent critical thinking and information analysis skills.
If that’s you, we’d really like to hear from you.
We welcome applications from candidates that would like to work flexibly. Here at ForrestBrown our amazing culture is built on collaboration, learning, celebrating success and being together but we also recognise that our people appreciate flexibility and the opportunity to deliver in their role their way. We currently operate a hybrid working model, with the opportunity to work from home regularly which we hope will support the benefits of being together as well as provide a more flexible approach to work.
