The client

We’re looking to recruit a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to work on our Amplius contract based at our office in Rushden, Northamptonshire. You may be required to support our Cambridge contract within the region as well, although to begin with you'll only be required on the Amplius contract. This program offers a structured, fast-track route into a career in Quantity Surveying to give you the knowledge, qualifications and on-the-job learning to go on and be a leader within Fortem.

Duties and responsibilities

As a Management Trainee within the Commercial team on one of our Repairs and Maintenance contracts your career is all about working with Fortem colleagues and supply chain.

You will

  • Analyse data trends, reduce costs and find value whilst supporting the delivery of repairs in our customers’ homes.
  • Tasks will include, but not limited to, procuring and negotiating supply chain Term Orders. Reviewing material spend cost controls, raising material and subcontractor purchase orders, managing variations, remeasuring completed orders.
  • You will also be involved in assisting the preparation of applications for payment, budget forecasting, and involved in the monthly accounts process with the production of reports to the wider business as required.
  • Be exposed all areas of your chosen discipline to develop your understanding of the business.
  • Work alongside experienced business managers to develop your skills and understanding of the wider business
  • Be supported to study a relevant higher level apprenticeship qualification whilst gaining relevant work experience

Applicants for this Trainee programme can be either

  • Sixth Form/College leavers who have completed A Levels, a BTEC, T levels, or a HNC and doesn’t want to go to university full time. If this is you; we can offer a 4-year programme
  • Someone with related work experience, we can offer a 3- or 4-year programme depending on existing knowledge.
  • A Graduate with a degree in a Construction, Operations or a Commercial related subject – if you have this, we can offer you a 2-year programme.
  • A Graduate with a non-Construction related degree – If you have this, we can offer you a 3-year programme

What you will need

  • Full UK Driving Licence (no more than 6 points)
