Working within a consultancy environment offers the chance to experience a wide variety of diverse projects; you will be given the opportunity to develop yourself at each step of the project lifecycle, from winning work to helping solve complex technical problems, managing project delivery, and having the opportunity to work directly with clients.
The types of projects you could find yourself working on include:
- Applying systems engineering principles to capture requirements and developing verification and validation methods for component and/or system designs.
- Developing the design of new components and systems for use in nuclear plant.
- Developing and improving our client’s design, analysis and manufacturing methods and capabilities.
- Producing engineering substantiations for new and in-service nuclear components and systems.
- Developing procedures for the manufacture of components and the maintenance of assets.
- Analyse data to inform asset management strategies for the operation of nuclear manufacturing facilities.
You will play a key role in a team delivering some of our largest programmes of work in support of our clients’ dynamic and fast-paced challenges. You will have the opportunity to develop your engineering skills using the latest tools and industry standards, as well as furthering their innovative use as state-of-the-art engineering techniques.
You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team, often alongside the client.
A lot of our work comes from repeat business and hence you will be seeking to build enduring working relationships with key clients. This means you will be spending some time on clients' sites, which is a great opportunity to get hands on experience with plant and to see first-hand the realisation of complex nuclear components. This will greatly enhance your professional development opportunities within your chosen engineering disciplines.
What you’ll need?
We are interested in hearing from excellent candidates who want to work in the nuclear field. As a minimum requirement you will need to be predicted to obtain, a 2:1 in your Bachelors or Masters degree. The following are some of the degree courses identified as of interest, however we are open to hearing from graduates of different subjects:
- Mechanical Engineering

- Materials Engineering
- Process/Manufacturing Engineering
Your work will develop a broad engineering knowledge across a range of disciplines, with the opportunity to specialise in the future.
When submitting your application, we will want to see in your CV and Cover Letter details of your degree and educational background. It is also important to highlight your relevant working experience, how your skills align with the requirements of the role and to demonstrate your interest and passion for the role.
We are also looking to see how you are organised and methodical in your approach when meeting deadlines and managing internal and external requirements, and how you seek to see the bigger picture in the roles you undertake.
The nature of our work means that we sometimes require staff to access Government material, it is therefore necessary for all of our employees to gain appropriate security clearance. We will apply for clearance if you have successfully been selected for a position, and we will obtain if we can successfully gain full clearance on your behalf based on the content of your application.
