This role can be offered in multiple of our Frazer-Nash offices, including: Dorking, Bristol and Burton

    What we do in Consulting

We develop software-based simulations across all of our markets. We use up to date simulation tools, that have come from the computer gaming industry to solve problems that are too difficult or dangerous to test out in the real-world. Our people have a deep understanding of the problems our clients are trying to solve and the capability held in these technologies, sometimes developing bespoke add-ons to the standard tools to solve first of a kind problems.

Our work helps to keep the UK safe and secure. We help customers to robustly forecast the scale and size of our national infrastructure for a changing future. We develop the tools used to plan for the challenges of the future and explore what we should do about them in the present, such as climate change and an aging population.

    Team information

As part of our modelling and simulation teams you will both develop models from the ground up, and extend models to add new features and solve problems that haven’t been addressed before. Our teams work on high value problems and always aim to making complex situations understandable for our customers. Recent problems that our teams have worked on include:

    • Developing simulations of the patient pathways through the services of a hospital trust, to understand the impact for patients of potential that capital investments the trust could make.
    • Developing computer models to understand the capacity for moving assets between military bases in a timely manner.
    • Modelling the roll-out of electric vehicles across commercial fleets in order to maximise the carbon reduction associated with the adoption of a new technology. Giving a good level of confidence that the differences between different technologies will not significantly affect operating performance of the service.

What you’ll be doing at Frazer-Nash

You will be working on modelling and simulation projects over the full model development lifecycle. You will bring projects from an initial vision, through requirements, design, implementation, and testing to delivery to the client. You will be a good team player, will develop a strong understanding of what good practice looks and feels like for modelling and simulation and work alongside exceptional professionals. You will learn new tools and software languages, architectures, design patterns and frameworks and become a champion for high quality delivery across a range of different industries.

    What you’ll need?

We are looking for ambitious, intelligent and inquisitive individuals, who can solve challenging problems. We embrace diversity, innovation and collaboration at Frazer-Nash and provide the opportunity for talented people like you to work on projects that make a difference to our world. You should have a degree in one of the following:

    • Computer Science,
    • Physics
    • Maths
    • Engineering

Note that where the degree is at Batchelors level, we would expect a grade of 1st, at Masters level we would expect a 2:1 or above.

    Desirable:

    • We are interested in people who have created computer games for fun as personal projects, just to explore new technology.
    • We are interested in people who have written professional software in work experience placements at all levels.

The nature of our work means that we sometimes require staff to access Government material, it is therefore necessary for all our employees to gain appropriate security clearance. We will apply for clearance if you have successfully been selected for a position, and we will decide if we can successfully gain full clearance on your behalf based on the content of your application. Any offer of employment is subject to this requirement being met.

    What can Frazer-Nash offer you?

At Frazer-Nash, we will support your career development so that you achieve further professional qualifications including Certifications in software languages and technologies. We will work with you to develop a tailored personal development programme. You will be assigned an experienced mentor who will work with you to develop your own individual development plan.

You will be expected to work in multi-disciplinary teams and will work alongside our own computer scientists, engineers, physicists, mathematicians, and psychologists, as well as those of our customers.
