What we do in Consulting
We like problems at Frazer-Nash. We are a systems and engineering technology consultancy that helps organisations deliver innovative engineering to make lives safe, secure, sustainable and affordable. Our people join us to make an impact on the world and to learn from some of the best minds in the industry. Our people stay with us because they value our supportive team environment and the career opportunities provided by our sustained growth.
Team information
Our Requirements & Acceptance (R&A) teams deliver high value consultancy services across a range of sectors including Nuclear, Defence, Space, Infrastructure and Energy. We apply Systems Thinking to help clients elicit both technical and non-technical requirements across their entire project lifecycle, as well as checking that solutions meet the customer’s true need.
R&A is at the heart of any large project, and we have built an enviable reputation in this field. Our success is such that we have grown to over 25 Engineers split across 3 teams in both the North and South of the UK, and we have fostered a culture of supporting, learning, and working together irrespective of geographical locations.
Right now, we are applying our skills to some of the country’s most complex and challenging projects, ranging from nuclear reactors, to submarines, to space satellites, to ships, to flying taxis, amongst many others. Within the last year, we have also turned our “skills” to social events such as Escape Rooms and Go-Karting, as well as having regular team meals.
What you’ll be doing at Frazer-Nash?
One of the great things about consultancy is that we never know what challenges await us! What we do know, is that you will be set to work on real projects straight away. At times, this could include several, totally unrelated projects simultaneously. For instance, you could finish a meeting related to a new multi-million-pound chemical laboratory, only to head straight into another related to a nuclear submarine. Getting to travel and work on a client’s site directly with their project team is also a very real possibility.
Everyone new to the team is provided with training and continued support for all their tasks, with responsibilities likely to include:
- Support and attend requirement elicitation workshops
- Operate Requirements Management tools such as DOORS
- Construct Model Based Systems Engineering diagrams
- Prepare system functional breakdown structures
- Write requirements, their measures of performance, constraints, and justification statements
- Capture, assess and prepare verification and validation evidence
- Prepare reports and databases
- Write or improve code as part of our continuous improvement initiative
- Support proposals and bids of complex or multi-disciplinary nature
What you’ll need
We are looking for ambitious, intelligent and inquisitive individuals, who can solve challenging problems. We embrace diversity, innovation and collaboration at Frazer-Nash and provide the opportunity for talented people to work on projects that make a difference to our world. You will need to be
- A Masters Systems Engineering based or multi-discipline degree graduate (such as Aerospace) with a 2:1 or above
- A Systems Thinker, taking a holistic approach to problem solving that considers both technical and non-technical issues
- A confident communicator, able to interact and build relationships with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels
- Able to work both independently and within multi-functional teams
- Able to work to time, cost and quality expectations
The nature of our work means that we sometimes require staff to access Government material, it is therefore necessary for all our employees to gain appropriate security clearance. We will apply for clearance if you have successfully been selected for a position, and we will decide if we can successfully gain full clearance on your behalf based on the content of your application. Any offer of employment is subject to this requirement being met.
