About the role
FTI Restructuring & Insolvency offers an unrivalled opportunity to work alongside accomplished professionals, delivering the most complex financial restructuring and insolvency solutions to various stakeholder groups. We’ve worked globally on some of the most high-profile restructurings and insolvency cases. Recent cases include Hertz Global, Gieves & Hawkes, ED&F Man, Prezzo, Cote Brasserie, The Collective, Thomas Cook, Polarcus, Noble Group, DeepOcean, and Adler.
We work with major international financial institutions, private equity houses, global law firms, and corporates, on cases encompassing an extensive range of industries. We work closely with clients to quickly ascertain key issues and implement viable and sustainable restructuring solutions and exit strategies.

As part of our Restructuring & Insolvency team, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about our wide variety of fast-paced international restructuring and insolvency assignments. You’ll be part of our award-winning team of experts in a supportive and high-achieving environment.
What you will do
Our interns will gain an overview of corporate restructuring and insolvency. You will learn the potential triggers for a restructuring and what to look out for in company financials. You will also learn about the complete insolvency process, from both company and lender perspectives. From contingency planning and stakeholder management to creditor distributions and case progression, you’ll gain knowledge required to launch your career in Restructuring and Insolvency.
Day-to-day tasks will vary by day, but you can expect to undertake:
- Market and company analysis to identify advisory opportunities and contribute to pitches, stakeholder presentations industry thought-pieces;
- Communication with various stakeholders, including creditors, directors and employees;
- Case progression, including preparation of statutory documents, reports and maintaining files;
- Supporting senior team managers in asset realisations and ongoing trading in insolvency;
How you will grow
At FTI, you’ll be working on headline-hitting cases and build a foundation in insolvency and work flexibly to support the wider restructuring team as required. We’re committed to your personal and professional development, we will provide in-house training and coaching throughout your internship.
What you will need to succeed
- Must be in your penultimate year of studies, graduating in 2025 and available to work in a full time internship from July 2024 to August 2024
- Interest and passion in insolvency and restructuring
- Ability to think logically and work with numbers
- Inquiring mind and strong desire to learn and develop
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisation, self-management, proactivity, and teamwork skills
- Critical thinking skills and ability to think on your feet
- Any degree discipline will be considered
- Ambition to achieve a Chartered Accountant qualification (ACA) in the future
