Who We Are
The Strategic Communications segment within FTI Consulting design and execute communications strategies for clients managing financial, regulatory and reputational challenges. For more than 25 years, we have served as trusted advisers to management teams and Boards of Directors seeking to seize opportunities, manage crises, navigate market disruptions, articulate their brand, stake a competitive position and preserve their permission to operate.
We also have built an unrivalled depth of industry and interdisciplinary expertise so that clients have access to professionals who are focused on their particular sector and have a broad network of relationships with key influencers. Our colleagues come from a range of different professional backgrounds, including government, journalism and investment banking, ensuring we are able to provide communications counsel based on in-depth industry knowledge and experience.
With 300+ colleagues across the London office, our sector teams include financial services, retail and consumer, natural resources and energy, real estate, professional services, technology media telecoms (TMT) and life sciences. We also provide cross-sector support in digital communications, government relations, internal communications, ESG, research and crisis management. Our clients range from start-ups to multinational companies; from household names to cutting edge companies and everything in between. As each sector team has an average of 20 colleagues, FTI employees enjoy the advantages of working at a global, multi-disciplinary firm, while benefitting from the tight-knit nature of our specialised teams.
Whether it’s communicating their financial results, developing and protecting a corporate reputation, implementing targeted stakeholder engagement programmes or designing bespoke digital strategies, we are experts at what we do and thrive on the challenges that come from working with clients across a variety of different sectors.
Our Graduate Scheme – How It Works
Our London-based graduate programme will provide you with the opportunity to rotate through three of our Strategic Communications sector teams, spending three months in each. You will be immersed in a fast-paced learning environment, where your development will be supported as much by an extensive training programme as by colleagues and senior members of your teams.
Through these rotations, you will have the chance to gain exposure to an incredibly diverse roster of clients, from fast-growing start-ups and scale-ups to FTSE 100 industry leaders and global corporations.
The rotations also provide the opportunity to build relationships with colleagues of all levels around our business and provide a unique insight into the many possible career paths that exist within the Strategic Communications practice.
Throughout the scheme you will be supported by your performance coach, a buddy in each of your rotation teams and a mentor who can support and guide you through your career goals and development, in addition to our Human Resources team. You will also be part of a larger graduate cohort, both within Strategic Communications and the wider FTI Consulting business. As such, you will have a strong network around you of like-minded young professionals and those dedicated to furthering your career development.
As you come towards the end of your third rotation placement, with guidance from your mentor, you will submit your preferences regarding the team you would like to join in a permanent role. These will be considered by the senior management and our Human Resources team, and you will be assigned to a permanent role within one of the teams.
At FTI Consulting, we continue to work hard to create an inclusive and high-performing culture in which our professionals can grow their careers and achieve their full potential. While also ensuring that we cultivate a fast-paced, supportive and dynamic learning environment.
As such, there are regular personal development training sessions, networking events and other social activities to get involved in, with other graduates and the rest of the firm. There are also groups dedicated to embracing, cultivating and maintaining the diverse and inclusive nature of our team, including our Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Network, women’s initiative (“FTI WIN”), our LGBT+ network and the Mind and Body network.
