Fugro is now seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join the Offshore Site Investigation and Reporting team based in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, UK. This is an exceptional opportunity to work as part of a global team on marine site characterisation and engineering projects, performing offshore site investigations, data analysis/interpretation and geotechnical engineering analyses, and technical reporting. As Geotechnical Staff Engineer, you will have the opportunity to travel internationally and work offshore for several weeks a year to perform in situ and offshore laboratory testing as well as collect, process and analyse soil and/or rock samples.

Who you’ll be working with
This role will require you to work offshore and onshore with other engineers. You also need to work alongside colleagues from various departments (e.g. laboratory, project manager, quality, health and safety, commercial etc.).
Here’s what a typical day would be like
- Checking and correcting field and laboratory data processed by others;
- Assigning laboratory tests and managing laboratory test programmes;
- Data entry and processing using into bespoke tools, in-house and commercial programs;
- Performing engineering analyses under supervision;
- Checking input and/or calculations for analyses performed by others;
- Assisting in the production of field, laboratory, soil parameters and engineering reports;
- Acting as shift and/or lead engineer during offshore site investigations.
Who we’re looking for
Essential
- A degree in civil engineering or related discipline or equivalent in education and experience;
- Student or associate membership of an appropriate professional body;
- Computer literate, capable of using spreadsheets and plotting software;
- Capable of generating a safe and quality-based culture within the offshore and onshore team;
- Good communicator (i.e. verbally and written) to deliver the results for internal and external clients;
- A good team player and able to form working relationships with Clients and colleagues at all levels.
Desirable
- Knowledge of soil and rock description and testing and reporting;
- Good knowledge of geology and soil mechanics.
