Are you ready to make a career switch into the world of networking and tech support? The Fujitsu Accelerated Potential Programme, delivered in partnership with Hatch, is designed to fast-track individuals with experience in other careers into the role of a Networking 1st Line Support Engineer — no CV or prior industry experience needed.
This is a salaried training programme, followed by a full-time role at Fujitsu, where you'll join a team of highly skilled engineers to support mission-critical infrastructure.
How it works
- Apply through our digital skills assessment (no CV required).
- If successful, you’ll be invited for a preliminary interview with Hatch. Followed by a final interview with Fujitsu.
- Upon being accepted, begin a 12-week paid training programme (remote and in-person) starting on the 15September.
- Transition into your full-time role at Fujitsu in Basingstoke.
About the role
As a 1st Line Support Engineer, you will:
- Act as the initial point of contact for incident reports via an incident management tool.
- Diagnose, triage, and resolve technical issues where possible.
- Escalate complex incidents with full documentation.
- Maintain communication with customers, updating on progress and resolution timelines.
- Work with Cisco appliances/software and be exposed to routing, switching, LAN, WAN, and SD-WAN technologies.
- Engage in a mix of incident management, project implementation, support escalations, and troubleshooting.

- Tools Training: ServiceNow, Zabbix, and other monitoring platforms
What we’re looking for
You don’t need experience in networking — just transferable skills such as:
- Computer literacy and confidence learning new systems
- Basic understanding of networking and IT security principles
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team
- Any experience with infrastructure or technical problem-solving is a plus
Are you a sole UK national? This is a non-negotiable requirement for the higher level clearance needed for this role.
Working hours and conditions
- Training Phase: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm (12 weeks)
- Post-Training: Shift pattern of 4x 12-hour days (07:00–19:00), 4 days off, 4x 12-hour nights (19:00–07:00), 4 days off
- Full-time office presence required post-training
