Role Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Civil Engineer to join us delivering our exciting current and future portfolio of works. You would be working as part of a multi-discipline team designing various Water Industry projects by undertaking civil engineering calculations and design work. GallifordTry Environment operate across waste and water, Treatment and Networks, offering agility to solve complex engineering problems. We are looking for a civil engineer with capability in reinforced concrete and an understanding of hydraulics to collaboratively deliver exceptional engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake civil engineering design including reinforced concrete and hydraulics, from outline or detailed design to site start, and ongoing support of site operations
- Provide clear and concise information and sketches to CAD Technicians for production of engineering drawings and reinforcement
- Coordination of your design work with others on multi-disciplinary projects
- Ensure design compliance with relevant operating procedures and business processes
- Ensure appropriate technical governance is obtained for your designs
- Ensure client specifications and standards and operational requirements are adhered to
- Ensure full compliance with relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- Strive towards environmental and carbon sustainability as part of our objective of attaining Net Zero Carbon by 2030
- Support innovation, value engineering and digital design
- Work in conjunction with delivery/site teams to promote integrated project delivery
- Working with external design companies, supply chain and where applicable, clients’ designers
- Depending on experience, mentoring junior and graduate civil engineers to provide support and development if required
Experience and Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent level) in a Civil Engineering discipline
- Chartered membership, or working towards, with a relevant professional body
- Capability to undertake and check designs for Treatment works relevant reinforced concrete and other structures (e.g above/below ground tanks, shafts, kiosk bases, foundations, access roads)
- And/or capability to undertake and check designs for sewer network relevant assets (e.g. gravity pipes, rising mains, shafts, tunnelling, CSO chambers)
- Preferably having good working knowledge of water and sewage treatment and hydraulics, and/or of sewage infrastructure networks and hydraulics
- Specification for and interpretation of ground investigation information
- Experience of civils design on multi-disciplinary projects preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Working knowledge of BIM and Common Data Environments preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
