    Essential Responsibilities

    Edison is a one-of-a-kind programme combining continued study with experience of the full engineering lifecycle.

    Exposing participants to all areas of a world leading global organization, participants have the opportunity to see first-hand, how ideas come to life. Edison benefits from GE’s global breadth by working alongside other Edison and project teams across the world. The Edison Programme is a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself in an encouraging, harmonious environment, while gaining hands on experience of some of the most advanced engineering challenges in the world today.

    The Key elements of the Programme include:

    • Three or more rotational assignments, which may involve Systems, Software, Hardware, Safety, Sustainment Engineering within Avionics or Power Distribution engineering projects, driven by real GE business priorities
    • Development of Engineering Competencies towards Professional Registration (IEng and CEng) through the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
    • Participation in the GE Aviation Foundation Leadership Programme
    • Development of technical, problem-solving and time management skills through Edison A-Course and B-Courses, via Technical Classes, Workshops, Formal Reports and Presentations
    • Opportunities to meet with, and present to, influential GE Leaders
    • Opportunities to improve your Professional Development Skills, including Teamwork, Leadership, Understanding Self/Others, Emotional Intelligence and Communications
    • The option to study for a Level 7 Master’s Degree Programme

    Required Qualifications

    • Minimum Bachelor's 2:1 (Hons), Master’s, or Accredited Engineering Degree in one of the following subjects:
    • Avionics
    • Electronic Engineering
    • Electronic/Electrical Engineering
    • Systems Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Computer/Software Engineering
    • Computer Science
    • Computer Systems Engineering
    • Work experience (including Placement/Internship) in an Aerospace or other similarly controlled Engineering Industry
    • Experience working in teams
    • An analytic, collaborative approach to problem solving
    • Dedication to a career in technology and a real passion for engineering
    • An understanding of the GE Aviation Systems business and our products

    Desired Characteristics

    • Work experience through a GE Engineering Internship
    • An Accredited Master's Degree or equivalent knowledge & experience
    • Demonstrated Leadership Skills
    • Commitment to Personal Development, including membership of a Professional Institution (e.g. IET), and desire to work towards
    • Professional Registration as an Incorporated and/or Chartered Engineer
    • Registration as an Engineering Technician (EngTech)
    • A Passion for Community and/or STEM Volunteering
