As the HVDC External Resource Manager, you will report to the Engineering Operations Manager within the HVDC Product Delivery Group (PDG). The role gives an excellent opportunity for a professional Manager to expand their skills and personal development within an international project organisation delivering complex HVDC systems.
Whilst based at the HVDC PDG in Stafford there will be some travel opportunities to collaborate with the chosen partners and other GE Teams, to ensure that work outsourced is delivered on time, to budget, and to the required quality standards.
The role will also manage the use of Contingent Workers from third parties that are employed on a Time and Material basis.

To manage all aspects of relations with the external partners identified to work with HVDC in delivering projects to our external customers, ensuring that all interactions are documented and visible, whilst ensuring that all interactions are handled with integrity and in compliance with GE procedures in place at any time.
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Adhere to the GE operation rhythm for placement of enquiries and orders.
- Define and maintain the process to be followed for selecting the preferred and back-up partners.
- Define and maintain the process for carving out work packages to be followed for order placement and management against the preferred and back-up partners while working with Sourcing, Procurement, finance, and other technical internal stakeholders.
- Implement and manage the KPI’s against the preferred and back-up partners.
- Implement and manage monthly reports regarding the performance of the partners.
- Manage internal reports regarding the numbers of Contingent Workers in HVDC PDG, covering present and projected numbers.
- Represent HVDC during the meetings with the GE partners.
- Travel when required to attend meetings with the clients – this may require overseas travel if necessary.
- Be a catalyst in identifying and improving / leaning-out the process so that the process can operate with highest efficiency.

The Person
The candidate requires a mix of expertise at graduate level or equivalent experience in business acumen. The candidate should also have a good level of the technical understanding of general electrical and mechanical engineering.
The candidate will typically be educated to degree-level, or above, in a discipline such as business, engineering or science. The applicants should also have some career experience in project management.
