    Do you want to be the owner of weld and heat treat special processes within a growing industry that is consistently investing in state of the art technology? If so, this role could be for you. Reporting to the New Product Introduction Leader, as part of the wider Engineering Team, you will be the conduit between the shopfloor and product line engineering teams to ensure all aspects of special processes are under control from a quality standpoint and challenge processes to be more streamlined through growing automation and efficiency.

    Roles and responsibilities

    • Championing key site deliverables of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
    • Candidates should possess an engineering qualification and / or should be able to demonstrate significant technical experience in production or manufacturing engineering
    • Review technical documentation to ensure adherence to quality and driving efficiency throughout processes.
    • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and adoption of Lean principles
    • Carrying out pro-active audit programs to stay aligned to quality control.
    • Lead projects related to your process from initiation to project completion, including product quality, compliance, and yield of processes.
    • Work closely with SPO team, EH&S, Maintenance, Operations and NPI Project Leader in adherence to GE Aviation Management of Change requirements on projects and minor site changes.
    • A key stakeholder who is responsible for coordination of difficult licensed and proprietary repairs.
    • Being a subject matter expert to close out audit findings and quality reports through RCCA.
    • Work closely with NPI Project Leader to identify and implement projects that meet the strategic needs of the business and to justify the business case through data driven evaluation.
    • Participate in the sites general engineering activities and issues including existing daily shop management structures
    • Part of Gate 2 business strategic initiatives.
    • It is intended that the scope of this role may develop as successful candidate’s knowledge and experience grows.

    Required qualifications

    • The successful candidate will have served a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship or be qualified to degree level in a relevant Engineering discipline, or equivalent knowledge and experience
    • Strong technical background in weld and heat treat processes
    • Experience of process auditing
    • Knowledge of process operations in a fast-paced production environment is crucial, as is the ability to interpret technical information
    • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills and strong computer literacy
    • Knowledge of lean methodologies would be beneficial
