    Over the past few years, Gemserv has experienced significant growth due to winning new contracts and securing contract extensions with our existing clients. As a result, we are expanding and looking to employ an Operations and Governance Analyst to join our Smart Energy Code Administration Service (SECAS) team.

    This role will give you a unique insight into smart metering, one of the government’s key initiatives to support the drive towards Net Zero. It’s a complex and challenging arena, and this role will give you the opportunity to play your part in such an important initiative.

    The Role

    As a Governance and Operations Analyst for the Smart Meter Security and Privacy team, you will be working on one of our Major Accounts in a dedicated team whose responsibility is to assure the security of smart meter devices, as defined in the Smart Energy Code (SEC) – the rulebook for smart meters.

    The primary focus of the role is to engage with customers and assist them by co-ordinating, tracking, and managing their security assessments. On a day-to-day basis, this will involve liaising with third party service providers who deliver Security Assessments on our behalf, to ensure that these are delivered on time and to quality. You will also liaise with our Information Security professionals who provide security expertise and support for our clients.

    A further aspect will be to ensure that we deliver exceptional service to our clients and effectively support the Security Sub-Committee and related Sub-Committee meetings.  This will involve inputting into papers and taking ownership for the resulting actions, conducting minute reviews, and supporting other secretariat support duties when required.. You will therefore need to demonstrate excellent stakeholder management, organisational and written and verbal communication skills.

    Responsibilities

    • Managing and tracking multiple security and privacy assessments for SEC Parties ensuring clear and timely communication with customers;
    • Liaising with service providers who undertake the assessments, ensuring activities are delivered on time;
    • Liaising with the internal consultancy team who deliver Information Security support to our clients;
    • Answering email enquiries from customers and service providers;
    • Supporting the Security sub-committees and their Independent Chair with papers and reports, and reviewing meeting minutes for accuracy;
    • Drafting paper or meeting minutes as required
    • Reviewing and updating documents to ensure accuracy and consistency;
    • Supporting the adoption of new processes and systems as we digitalise our services;
    • Ensuring that we deliver our SEC obligations whilst providing exceptional service to our clients;
    • Processing CPL submissions, and resolving any related customer queries;
    • Maintaining procedural documentation and work instruction manuals, and updating them as new requirements arise from SEC modifications and industry requests.

    Requirements

    The successful candidate will:

    • have excellent communication skills, including written, numeracy and verbal, able to understand and communicate complex information;
    • have good stakeholder management skills with the ability and confidence to influence peers;
    • have very strong written skills with the ability to summarise an issue and convey the point concisely;
    • be digitally competent and able to present information in its clearest format for the intended audience;
    • strive for excellence in their work being methodical, diligent and paying attention to the detail;
    • have experience of drafting new and improving existing processes;
    • be a team player, willing to support the wider team; and
    • be a university graduate or of graduate-calibre.

    While not essential it is desirable that the candidate has knowledge of the Smart Energy Code (SEC) and understands the Security and Privacy requirements and obligations to support the Sub-Committee and SEC Parties in delivering their obligations.
