As a participant in the DSD Program, you will join the firm as a full-time analyst and receive a competitive salary and benefits package. The program will provide you the opportunity of a full-time Design Analyst role as well as training and professional development to kick-start your career. During this 18-month program you will develop key skills and build a strong foundation in core functions, systems, software, operational tools, and organizational processes. You will participate in Program Bootcamps, a Design Strategy 101 course, Personalized Professional Development, research and thought leadership participation, global leadership forums, and a networked global community.
You will be a core member of our multi-disciplinary teams working with a wide range of clients to evaluate their current conditions, define their goals, and develop integrated strategies for how their environment, technology, policies, and services can support their objectives. Your work will span a wide range of scales, from pilot projects to global strategies and programs. You’ll conduct research efforts, synthesize data into meaningful insights, and develop innovative future state solutions. You’ll help design and lead our clients through robust processes to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
What You Will Do
- Deliver solutions that bear the full breadth of Gensler’s strategy capabilities
- Structure and perform analysis, and conduct research to uncover the insights that support our recommendations to clients
- Create verbal, written, and visual communications with an emphasis on problem framing, storytelling, and information design
- Plan and conduct ethnographic research studies, analyze field data, and communicate actionable insights and opportunities
- Develop vision sessions, focus groups, workshops, and interviews
- Work with clients from Fortune 500 companies, world-class institutions, non-profit organizations, startups, and more
Your Qualifications
We are looking for ambitious candidates with a design background and a passion for tackling tough problems using unconventional insights into people, processes, and the places where they collide. We seek graduates who inspire the people around them, who bring a fresh perspective to their work, and who can work collaboratively within individual studios and across geographic boundaries.
Ideal candidates possess a background in designing for the built environment and have demonstrated exceptional leadership through past academic and/or professional achievements. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills are critical. Comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously is a must. Candidates should be self-starters, quick-learners, and exude an entrepreneurial spirit.
- An undergraduate or master’s degree in architecture, interior design, environmental design, urban design, industrial design, real estate, design strategy, organizational development, or similar fields. A degree from an accredited institution (when applicable) is preferred.
- A professional or educational background in the design of the built environment (architecture, interior design, urban design, etc).
- Professional experience related to your field of study; your experience may include relevant internships and/or co-op experience.
- A strong academic background. A minimum of a 3.0 cumulative American GPA (or equivalent from your country of study) is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong graphic and persuasive writing skills.
- Familiarity with research methodologies and processes.
- An interest in user research, design strategy, and space programming.
- The following technical skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign)
- Basic skills in AutoCAD, Revit, 3D and multi-media technologies is a plus
