    Role Overview

    The Beef Placement student will work closely with the EMEA Beef team at Genus ABS and play an integral role in the data collection and management of the beef genetic pipeline in the UK. The role will involve a significant amount of exposure to the data collection and data management processes that are involved in creating genetic evaluations. The prospective candidates must be comfortable in both office and commercial farm environments.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    The successful candidate would need to have the following qualities:

    • Computer literacy – in particular Microsoft Excel & Power Point
    • Excellent livestock handling skills
    • Good background knowledge of the dairy and beef industry including breeding
    • Be able to interact with colleagues & customers via telephone & email
    • Be enthusiastic with excellent communication skills
    • Hold a valid clean UK Driving License
    • Have the ability to work under pressure ensuring deadlines are met    
    • Works with a sense of urgency and has a ‘starter-finisher’ approach.
    • A self-motivated team player with strong organisational skills.

    Requirements

    The position is ideal for anybody looking to develop a career in the dairy or beef industry. There will be the opportunity to gain experience in a number of different areas including: sales, service roles, research and development including working with our feed efficiency testing programme.

     Many previous placement students have returned to work with Genus ABS post-graduation either through the future leaders graduate programme or in exciting positions within our global company.
