During this placement you’ll be taking a lead role in our production or warehouse and logistics departments ensuring our products get to our patients safely and efficiently.
You’ll learn about and assist with
- Dispatching products to our external warehouse and logistics partners
- Global distribution chains and product requirements during transit
- Inventory management - including life cycle management of our products
- Raw materials inbound and testing
- Maintaining safety standards by carrying out audits Production scheduling and materials management
- Data analysis to identify and implement improvement opportunities
- Investigating any distribution and logistics issues and recommending solutions
- Product flow optimisation through the supply chain
- Investigation of any quality issues using Root Cause Analysis, which could delay release of product.
- Development of Key Performance Indicators and trends which will help manage the business and drive improvement
Whichever role you go into you will be applying the skills you already have and developing new skills such as team working, problem solving and building relationships. Please read below about the 2 different locations we are recruiting for across our Supply and Logistics Industrial Placements. Please note, these are distinct placements and so when you apply you will be able to select a preference of where you would like to be placed if successful. We will accommodate your preference where possible.
Barnard Castle
The Barnard Castle site is located in the North East of England and is sited within the County Durham countryside. Barnard Castle is a key secondary site for GSK with a large number of New Products coming through development at site. We manufacture and supply a huge range of different pharmaceutical products from Sterile Products (Syringes and Vials) to Liquid Inhalations and Dermatologicals. We have recently opened a new state of the art aseptic digital facility producing biopharmaceuticals.
A variety of opportunities exist within our supply and logistics team. You may work in the logistics team, supporting the End to End (E2E) Supply Chain for pharmaceutical products, where you would be expected to deliver on business or compliance improvement projects. Opportunities will also arise to support day to day operations working in a safe and compliant manner. You will be tasked with turning data into information and insights to inform business decisions, enabling you to develop and implement data analytics and reporting capabilities. Exposure to this high volume and fast paced environment will build a great understanding of the E2E supply chain.
Opportunities also exist within the warehouse team providing the support required to ensure the area is Audit Ready and fully compliant with Safety and Quality standards at all times. The successful candidate will support major projects, New Product Introduction activity and lead minor projects. There will be the opportunity to get involved with purchasing consumables from external vendors. To be successful in this role you will need to have strong data analytics skills with a keen attention to detail.
Worthing
The Worthing site manufactures more than 34 million packs of antibiotics each year, and our 60-year legacy has seen generations of talented people proudly producing our high-quality medicines for patients around the globe. The Worthing site is situated approximately 2 miles from the South Coast and located at the foot of the picturesque South Downs. We are also only 15 miles from the cosmopolitan and cultural city of Brighton and Hove. Worthing boasts the opportunity to combine city, countryside and coast all in one location, and even offers rail links to London in under 90 minutes.
Several roles are available in our production and supply and improvement teams. You will support the End to End supply chain for pharmaceutical products, advising the business on Key Performance indicators and trends.
You will work closely with manufacturing, logistics and warehousing teams and will have the opportunity to deliver a business improvement project. You will experience how quality deviations impact product flow and how these occurrences can be minimised through undertaking root cause analysis.
This fast-paced role requires a candidate who is a logical thinker, can communicate with people at all levels of the organisation and who has an interest in data. This is an opportunity to gain skills which are transferrable to other industries and a wide variety of roles.
